Last November 2011, he received the Best Text Blog award from the the Philippine Legislators’ Committee for Population and Development (PLCPD) Foundation during the 7th Annual PopDev Media Awards for his series of posts tackling migration, premarital pregnancies, and sex education. Check articles from Rappler.com and the PLCPD for more on this event.
Meanwhile, he won 2nd place in the Women Entrepreneurship Summit essay writing contest organized by the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship last March 2012. His winning entry can be accessed here.
He has participated in a number of national and international writing contests. This year alone, he joined in World Bank’s International Essay Competition for Young People and Tokyo, Japan-based Goi Peace Foundation’s Essay Writing Contest, and two others. He does not have a sterling record of wins, but he enjoys competing a lot. He is a veteran of quiz bees during his high school and college years.
Two years ago, he was invited to join the Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society and the Greifswald International Students Festival in Germany, though he ultimately declined both since he does not believe in having to pay to have something written in his resume. He was one of the chosen participants in Jobstreet.com’s 2nd Career Congress with the theme “Developing Future Leaders in the Workplace.”

This is not his first foray in online writing. He was once upon a time an active user in Multiply.com. He has probably posted around 300 blogs in his three years (2007-2010) there, mostly about campus politics (this is mainly because he wrote for two campus papers at that time).
Unlike others, he almost certainly won’t write about the latest techie stuff out there or what he wears or eats. He wants to make this blog to be both informative and entertaining. Though most posts are about news and politics, expect humor and entertainment bits every now and then. As his blog subtitle says, he wants to write “about anything.” He hopes that his visitors will find something interesting to read here.
Blogging Milestones

3) Consistently ranked in the top five by Top Blogs Philippines under the Politics and Government category
4) One of my humor blog had been excerpted in two Philippine newspapers, Philippine Daily Inquirer and Banat (a Cebu-based tabloid). The Manila Times, meanwhile, cited the research I did about the non-inclusion of Philippine universities in the World University Rankings for 2011-2012 by UK-based Times Higher Education.
5) Has received over 250,000 unique just a year after it was put up.

Hi Mark, keep walking…
Whatever you meant by that.
Why Pigafetta? #justasking#
Hi, Miss Zandra. Thank for asking. I’ll probably include in this post a short explanation about that soon.
Nice! Haha! I would’ve gone to Germany, however, if I were you.
You’re right, Matt. I should have. If there’ll be a similar chance in the future, I will go.
PS: Where’s the self-intro part of your blog?
http://anachronicworks.wordpress.com/about/
Haha! But it’s not as fancy as yours. With this, you could sell yourself to a decent magazine.
This is too formal, in other words.
If you only saw my Multiply blog … Hahaha. Thank you so much.
Hi Mark,
I just came across your blog entry ‘Running for Congress was a gross miscalculation made by Gloria Arroyo’ today, and I like what you wrote. I agree with your thoughts on the matter, although what looks plain and simple now probably wasn’t that crystal clear back then when GMA thought she was still queen of the nation. I jumped immediately to this page (Some self-introduction) and I am impressed. My personal congratulations to you and I hope you keep blogging and anything, and everything. I’m sure there are those who benefit from your insights. I am one.
Sir Rafael, thank you very much po for reading. As a writer, such comments makes me feel great. I appreciate din po your compliment. Looking forward to more visits from you in the future.
Regards,
Mark
Kudos, Mark!
Salamat po!
Walang anuman. I’m just happy for meeting another Filipino Blogger on WordPress. I browsed over your blog and learned that, so far, most of what interests you are about politics. To be honest, I’m the opposite. Having said that, I admire you for being such a BIG voice here through your posts. It goes without saying dito na lang ako magbabasa (sa blog mo) ng current events ika nga.
Alam nyo po, blogging gives me the opportunity to meet new people, albeit virtually. I am really humbled when people read and appreciate my work. Salamat po muli. Ilalagay ko na po kayo sa blogroll ko so we can have more interaction in the future.
I share the same sentiment towards blogging. Meeting new people, especially highbrowed ones, is priceless for me. Thank you very much for adding me to your blogroll. Let’s keep promoting our beautiful country. Based on the title of your blog (and on some of what I read from it), we are heading the same way.
Mabuhay and mga Pinoy!
You can add me po in your blogroll, too – though hindi ko lang po alam kung saang category nyo ako ilalagay doon. Haha. Anyway, bago pa lang po ako sa blogging – having started only last March, so having been viewed thousands of times already makes me feel great.
Your posts definitely speak for current events. Hence, your category name is CURRENT EVENTS.
Yeah, that’s one of the first things I noticed when I viewed your blog. Lucky you! You’re nearing 40,000 views and that’s undoubtedly an accomplishment for someone who just started this year.
Nakakatuwa nga po. Well, perhaps, readers find my posts informative. Yun naman po ang goal ko. Personal blog po ito in a sense because I own this, although I seldom write about myself.
Kudos!
Salamat po!
Hello Mark. Good to get to know you. Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow at GNN. =)
